The workshop between SAM and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) entitled “Turkey-China Relations in a Broader Perspective” was hosted by SAM in Ankara, on 2 June 2016.
The three-session meeting brought together academics and diplomats in an effort to evaluate Turkey-China relations and the regional developments in detail. During the meeting, sessions on “Turkey-China Bilateral Relations”, “The ‘One Belt One Road Project’ and Turkish-Chinese Cooperation” and “Turkey and China in the Changing Geopolitical Landscape of the Middle East” were conducted.
SAM Chairman Prof. Ali Resul Usul delivered welcoming remarks at the beginning of the workshop. The meeting was participated by Minister Plenipotentiary Hakan Kıvanç (Deputy Director General for East Asia, MFA), Minister Plenipotentiary Cengiz K. Fırat (Deputy Director General for Bilateral Economic Affairs, MFA), Prof. Selçuk Çolakoğlu, Doç. Dr. Şirin Saraçoğlu, Dr. Altay Atlı, Doç. Dr. Mesut Özcan and Dr. Oytun Orhan from Turkish side and participated by Li Peilin (Vice President, CASS), Prof. Tang Zhichao, Prof. Yu Guoqing, Prof. Zhang Qizi, Associate Professor Zhao Huirong, Associate Professor Tong Fei, Mr. Li Bin, Mr. Yang Guang, Mr. Zhang Yi, Mr. Zhou Yunfan, Mr. Xu Xiujun and Ms. Liu Yingxiang from the Chinese side.
Participants also shared their views and responded to various questions from each other during the Q&A sessions.
