In collaboration with the Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN), SAM organized an Academic Forum on the marge of the Heads of State or Government of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Summit, held on 25 June 2012, with the participation of academics from the BSEC member states.
Under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Bülent Aras, the academics presented views of their own country perspectives for new visions on BSEC’s future. At the end of the Forum, a vision paper has been prepared as a road map. The Forum has contributed to unleash a fresh momentum in terms of establishing a social network, academic and economic cooperation between member states’ academics that will hopefully spill-over.
During the Forum, new points of view on energy and transportation in the Black Sea region have been explored. And, it is also reiterated that frozen conflicts and other problems of the region have to be settled as soon as possible under the convenient conditions enabled by BSEC. To this end, the proposals of the academics from Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding settlement of conflicts in the region have been noteworthy.
