SAM attended the conference entitled “New Political and Security Dynamics in the Middle East: Turkey and Egypt” which was organised by the Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation (TESEV) on 21st January 2013 in Cairo, Egypt. The conference attracted people from various backgrounds, including but not limited to politicians, bureaucrats, academics and experts from think-tanks.
The conference comprised of two panels, i.e. “Turkey and Egypt in a Changing Regional Context” and “Potential for Future Cooperation: Containing Conflicts and Economic Cooperation”. In the course of the meeting, various issues, including Turkish and Egyptian perspectives vis-à-vis the transformation of the region, probable scenarios and impacts of the said scenarios on both countries were discussed; opportunities for cooperation in economic and foreign policy fields were analysed and a roadmap was outlined to this end.
