Caspian Summer School” has been organized by Caspian Strategy Institute (HASEN) between 19-27 August 2013 for the first time in İstanbul with support and assistance of SAM. Participants of the event included researchers, managers and diplomats from various countries in the region.
Summer School interns received presentations in the subjects of “Turkish Foreign Policy”, “Contemporary Turkish Politics”, “Southern Gas Corridor”, “Turkish Economy in Last Ten Years”, “Security in Caspian: Perspective of Sustainable Peace”, and “Regional Transportation Networks” from Chairman of the Center for Strategic Research Prof. Dr. Bülent Aras , Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Fatih Ceylan, Hürriyet Daily news Editor- in- chief Murat Yetkin , Doç. Dr Tuncay Kardaş, SOCAR Turkey First Vice President Samir Kerimli, BP Turkey Vice President Hakan Türker, TAP Turkey Director Cenk Pala, Project Manager at Department of İnternational Projects Ali Karakaya, Dr. Fatih Macit, Prof. Dr. Kerem Alkın, Prof. Dr. Mitat Çelikpala, General Director Selçuk Yılmaz at TOBB UND and Dr. Taleh Ziyadov.
In his opening presentation, Prof. Dr. Bülent Aras, Chairman of the Center of Strategic Research (SAM), elaborated the course of Turkish Foreign Policy from past to present, and the policy principles followed by Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu during his tenure.
Summer School interns also came to Ankara on 23 August and visited several state institutions in the capital city. During their visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Summer School participants were briefed on Turkish Foreign Policy by Head of Department Ufuk Gezer from Policy Planning Directorate. At the end of that day, a dinner has been hosted by SAM in the honour of the program participants in Ankara Palas State Guesthouse, attended also by diplomats stationed in Ankara from the Embassies of program participants’ home countries.
