A workshop entitled “Exchanges on the Middle East: Turkey-Jordan Relations within the Changing Regional Environment” was organized in cooperation by SAM, Prime Ministry’s Office of Public Diplomacy (KDK), Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies (ORSAM) and Center for Strategic Studies-University of Jordan (CSS) in Amman on 26 May 2014.
Turkish delegation comprised Turkish Ambassador to Jordan H.E. Sedat Önal, SAM Chairman Prof. Ali Resül Usul, Chairman of Diplomacy Academy at Turkish MFA Assoc. Prof. Mesut Özcan, ORSAM Chairman Assoc. Prof. Şaban Kardaş, members of KDK and other prominent academics.
Perspectives on regional developments in terms of role of international actors and conflict resolution mechanisms were discussed at first session. In the second session, participants had an opportunity to exchange qualitative and quantitative information on what the two countries have done so far in the face of Syrian crisis specifically regarding the refugee flows. Current status of economic, political and cultural aspects of bilateral relations were assessed with a future-oriented vision in the last session.
