Our Center together with the Area Studies Programme of the Middle East Technical University (METU) organized an international workshop entitled “25th Year of Diplomatic Relations Between Turkey and Turkic & Central Asian States” on 21st December, 2017 in Ankara.
The event that was held at METU was started with the welcoming speeches by Prof. Dr. Oktay TANRISEVER, Chair of the PhD Program in Area Studies at METU and by our Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mesut ÖZCAN. Opening Remarks were given afterwards by Prof.Dr. Özlem ÖZDEMIR, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administ. Sciences/ METU, Prof. Dr. Meliha ALTUNIŞIK, Vice-Rector of METU and Ambassador Şefik Vural ALTAY, Director General in Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The first session under the title "Appraisal of 25 years of Relations under Global and Regional Developments" and moderated by Prof. Dr. Oktay TANRISEVER, H.E. Mr. Hazar IBRAHIM, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan , H.E. Mr. Abzal SAPARBEKULY, Ambassador of Republic of Kazakhstan, Prof. Dr. Fırat PURTAŞ, Deputy Secretary General of TÜRKSOY, Mr. Murodbek ASLAMOV, Second Secretary/Consul from the Embassy of the Rep. of Tajikistan, Mr. Bobur TAGAEV, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the Rep. of Uzbekistan and Ms. Pelin MUSABAY BAKİ, Project Director of the Turkic Council made presentations and answered questions in the following Q&A session.
Participants continued their fruitful discussions in the last session with focusing on "Potentials and Prospects for Enhanced Ties after a Quarter-Century of Relations" between Turkey and Turkic and Central Asian states.
