MIKTA is an unofficial consultation and coordination platform enacted by Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia. Second MIKTA Foreign Ministers Meeting was held in 13-14 April 2014 with participation of Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Ahmet Davutoğlu and other MIKTA Foreign Ministers. Final Declaration of the meeting included a decision to “conduct seminars with attendance of academicians from MIKTA countries to develop common areas of cooperation”.
In accordance with the abovementioned decision, First MIKTA Academicians Seminar was held on 11 August 2014 in Mexico City, hosted by Mexican Diplomatic Academy. Turkey was represented at the seminar by SAM Chairman Prof. Ali Resul Usul and Prof. Erdal Tanas Karagöl from Yıldırım Beyazıt University. Prof. Usul and Prof. Karagöl made presentations on MIKTA’s potential functions as a platform of economic cooperation and public diplomacy during the seminar
