A roundtable meeting was organized by SAM (Center For Strategic Research) and ISS (Institute for Strategic Studies) which is under the auspices of National Security Council of Mongolia on the topic of “Turkish-Mongolian Relations” between 12-15 May 2014 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The roundtable meeting moderated by Director of ISS Damba Ganbat and Head of Diplomacy Academy Assoc. Prof. Mesut Özcan with participation of SAM delegation which was represented by Assoc. Prof. Ferhat Pirinççi, Assist. Prof. Murat Yeşiltaş and Third Secretary Şeyda Erol, as well as N. Dorjsuren, G. Bazaarvani, N. Soyolgerel, J. Adiyasuren, D. Munkthur, representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
During the meeting, foreign policy principles of Mongolia and Turkey, Mongolian third neighbor policy, Turkey’s policy towards regional integrations including EU and SCO, Turkey’s strategy to ensure its energy security, Mongolian participation on the regional integration process: SCO and OSCE, Mongolian’s cooperation with NATO and Turkey’s cooperation with NATO and OSCE, its practical implications were evaluated. Furthermore, political, economic and cultural aspects of bilateral relations between Turkey and Mongolia were discussed.
The participants shared their ideas and suggestions and responded to various questions from each other during the Q&A segments at the end of every session.
In the context of the program, SAM delegation paid a visit to Damba Gankhuyag, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Bain Tsokto (Tonyukuk) Inscriptions in Ulaanbaatar.
