A roundtable meeting entitled “Ukrainian-Turkish Relations at Present Stage: Opportunities and Obstacles” was organized in cooperation by SAM and Ukrainian Krymskiy Institute of Oriental Studies (NAS), as well as with support and participation by Kennan Institute, Embassy of the Republic of Turkey and TIKA Regional Office on 3 July 2014 in Kiev.
Turkish delegation was comprised by Turkish Ambassador H.E. Yönet Can Tezel, SAM Chairman Prof. Dr. Ali Resul Usul, Dr. Emre Erşen from Marmara University, Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar from Atılım University, Prof. Dr. Oktay Tanrısever from METU, Dr. Vügar İmanbeyli from İstanbul Şehir University, and Cultural Attaché Berat from Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Kiev.
During the event, opportunities and obstacles with regard to political, economic and security aspects of Ukrainian-Turkish relations, impact of recent regional developments on the abovementioned dossiers, and cooperation possibilities on the fields of science, education and culture were evaluated through several speeches and presentations.
The participants shared their ideas and suggestions and responded to various questions from each other during the Q&A segments at the end of every session.
