Within the framework of the institutional relations between SAM and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), a workshop was held in Beijing on 4 September 2012.
The Workshop started with the opening remarks of Prof. Dr. Bülent Aras, Chairman of SAM and, Prof. Zhou Yunfan, CASS Deputy Director General of the International Cooperation Bureau. SAM advisors Dr. Selçuk Çolakoğlu and Nevra Esentürk; Tarık Oğuzlu (Internatonal Antalya University), Dr. Çağdaş Üngör (Marmara University), Wang Rongjun (CASS Institute of American Studies), Prof. Cheng Hong (North-West University), Prof. Tian Wenlin (China Institute of Contemporary Studies) and Yao Kuangyi, former Chinese Ambassador in Ankara participated at the conference.
Bilateral relations of both countries with the US and European Union were discussed in detail. The perceptions and the policies towards Middle East in general and Arab Spring in particular were handled, after dwelling upon the historical background of the relations between Turkey-China, the current situation and the fields of cooperation were evaluated.
These workshops are considered as useful and will be maintained according to certain agenda.
