A workshop has been organized between SAM and Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) in Ankara on 19 November 2013. The relations between SAM and PISM had already reached an institutional level on March 2013 when Memorandum of Understanding signed between these two institutions.
H.E. Hasan Göğüş, Deputy Undersecretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ambassador and H.E. Andrzej Ananicz, Ambassador of Republic of Poland to Pakistan, Former Ambassador to Turkey and Former Head of Intelligence delivered the opening speeches. Assoc. Prof. Mesut Özcan, Acting Chairman of SAM, H.E. Mieczyslaw Cieniuch, Ambassador of Republic of Poland to Turkey, Başak Türkoğlu, Deputy Director of EU Accession Process Directorate, Nesrin Bayazıt, Deputy Director of of Northern Europe and Baltıcs Directorate, Marcin Zaborowski, Director of the PISM, Prof Ali Resul Usul, İstanbul Commerce University, Prof. Mustafa Kibaroğlu, Okan University, Assoc. Prof. Şaban Kardaş, Advisor to Diplomacy Academy attended the workshop as well as eminent participants from state institutions and think-tanks of both countries.
At the meeting, economic, political, and cultural aspects of Turkey-Poland relations were discussed, opportunities for cooperation in energy, security and defense sectors were elaborated.
In this regard, as the 600th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and Poland will be celebrated in 2014, the workshop has laid a convenient ground to reveal the historical and current relations within the context of future-oriented perspective. Besides, both parties have expressed that the institutional relation between SAM and PISM is of the vital importance in terms of promoting public relations among two societies.
