Symposium on Turkey-Japan Dialogue on Global Affairs was conducted in coordination with Center for Strategic Research (SAM), Center for Middle Eastern Strategic Studies (ORSAM), Prime Ministry Directorate of Foreign Relations, and Embassy of Japan on March 1, 2016 at Ankara HiltonSa Hotel. The symposium has brought together prominent Turkish and Japan specialists as speakers, and audience from diplomatic missions, universities and think-tanks.
The symposium started with the opening speeches delivered by the head of Prime Ministry Directorate of Foreign Relations, Dr. Gursel Donmez; ambassador of Japan, Yutaka Yokoi; President of Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA), Ambassador Shingo Yamagami; and Director of Diplomacy Academy of Republic of Turkey Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Mesut Özcan and Muharrem Turgut, Acting Head of Department at SAM.
Subsequently, two panels entitled “Turkey - Japan Relations and Approaches to Central Asia”, and “Turkish and Japanese Perspectives on Middle Eastern Affairs” were held at the symposium.
The event has ended with a closed session that took place after the panels and brought together leading specialists.
