“The Second Media Forum of Turkish Speaking Countries and Communities” was organized with special focus on “Effects of Media on the Turkish Language in a Globalizing World: Diversities and Common Interests” on October 27-29, 2011 in Baku. Along with Turkey, media members from public and private media sectors of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, the Tatar Autonomous Republic, the Sakha-Yakut Autonomous Republic, the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the Autonomous Republic of Hakasia, the Autonomous Republic of Tuva and the Bashkortostan Autonomous Republic attended the forum. The delegation from Turkey, led by Murat Karakaya, General Director of the Office of the Prime Minister, Directorate General of Press and Information, also included Oğuz Ateş, Deputy Chairman of SAM and Onur Demirbaş, Third Secretary.
In the forum, the establishment of the “Media Platform of Turkish-Speaking Communities” was announced. Also, Coordination Council members and Committee Chairmen of countries were chosen in the forum. Murat Karakaya, General Director of the Office of the Prime Minister, Directorate General of Press and Information, was elected as Secretary General, and Aflatun Amaşov, Azerbaijan Press Council Chairman, was elected as Chairman of the media platform.
The concluding statement of the forum indicated that the next Media Platform of Turkish-Speaking Communities would be held in Bishkek.
