The Third Meeting of Official Foreign Policy Research Centers of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (Turkic Council) Member States was held on 25 May 2016 in Astana hosted by Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (KazISS).
The meeting was started by the opening addresses of Dr. Erlan Karin, the Director of KazISS, Dr. Omer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Prof. Dr. Ali Resul Usul, Chairman of the Center for Strategic Research of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Dr. Farhad Mammadov, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Azamat Dikambayev, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The meeting’s main theme was determined as follows: “New Silk Road: enhancing cooperation among the Turkic states in Eurasia”. In this direction, participants discussed new opportunities in transport-transit sphere and shared views on continuing projects, obstacles and ideas on solutions; also made a fruitful contact during the continuing workshop on enhancing cooperation among the official foreign policy research centers of the member states of the Turkic Council.
The first two meetings which were held also within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed among the Official Foreign Policy Research Centers of the Member States of the Turkic Council in May 2015, had been hosted by Center for Strategic Studies of Azerbaijan on May 8th, 2015 in Baku, and afterwards by our center (SAM) in Istanbul on December 21st, 2015.
