SAM and Koç University Migration Research Center (MiReKoc) organized a workshop on 9 October 2014 at Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This workshop was organized as a part of the “Transnational Migration in Transition: Transformative Characteristics of Temporary Mobility of People” Project (EURA-NET) conducted by MiReKoc with the support of European Union 7th Framework Program.

The workshop was attended by representatives by government institutions and agencies related to migration affairs such as Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior, Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), as well as research centers and academicians working on migration-related issues.

During the workshop, several observations and proposals were put forward and answers were sought on the political, economic and social effects of international migration phenomenon on immigrants' source, transit and destination countries, interactions between immigrants and the population of their new host countries, and possible contributions by main actors and shareholders of a comprehensive policy vis-a-vis the immigration phenomenon.
