Assoc.Prof. Umut Uzer
He is an Associate Prof. at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Technical University. He works on the impact of nationalism, identity, state-building in the Middle East and Caucasus. He has published pieces on Turkish foreign policy, Turkish nationalism, Israeli-Turkish relations and Arab perceptions of the ColdWar in well-known academic journals. He is also the author of two books: Intellectual History of Turkish Nationalism and Identity and Turkish Foreign Policy. For his doctoral studies, he attended University of Virginia, where he has written his Ph.D. dissertation with William B. Quandt. He has a Master’s degree from Middle East Technical University and a Bachelor’s degree from Bilkent University. He was affiliated with the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), a major think tank in Brussels and was a visiting professor at University of Antwerp. Earlier, he was a research assistant at Foreign Policy Institute, Ankara researching the Middle East peace process and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
