Doç. Dr. Uğur Güngör

Graduated in 1991 from the Turkish Military Academy, Uğur Güngör received his MA in Political Science and International Relations from Boğaziçi University and his PhD in International Relations from Bilkent University. With a TÜBİTAK scholarship, he conducted his post-doctoral research on International Security and Terrorism at Princeton University in 2011-2012. He served as the International Relations Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff in 2008-2011, Chief of Staff of the NATO Counter Terrorism Center of Excellence in 2012-2014, Military Advisor to the Commander of the Turkish Land Forces in 2014-2015, and Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief of Liaison Officers and Military Advisor to the Kabul Regional Command during the NATO ISAF operation in Afghanistan in 2010-2011. In 2015, he retired from the Turkish Armed Forces with the rank of Senior Colonel. Since 2015, he has been working as the Director of the School of Foreign Languages at Başkent University and currently lectures at Başkent University, National Defense University (Land War College), NATO Counter Terrorism Center of Excellence, Partnership for Peace Training Center, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Diplomacy Academy and Anadolu Agency News Academy. He has published numerous national and international articles and book chapters in the field of International Security.
