Dr. Hakan Fidan

Hakan Fidan, who was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the cabinet established after the second round of the Turkish Presidential elections held on May 28, 2023, was born in Ankara Hamamönü in 1968. Fidan, who graduated from the Land Forces CommunicationsSchool and the Land Forces Language School, completed most of his academic education during his service in the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). During his overseas NATO mission, he completed his undergraduate degree in Politics and Management Science at the University of Maryland University College. He then received master's and doctorate degrees from Bilkent University, Department of International Relations.  Following his service in the Turkish Armed Forces, Fidan concentrated on academic life and gave lectures on international relations at Hacettepe and Bilkent Universities. He was appointed to critical positions in the fields of foreign policy and security at state levels. He performed his duties as President of the Turkish Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA), Deputy Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry for Foreign Policy and Security Issues, Member of the Board of Directors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Special Representative of the Prime Minister, Deputy Undersecretary of the National Intelligence Organization (MİT), Undersecretary/President of the MİT and Special Representative of the President.  Mr. Fidan, who was appointed as MİT Undersecretary on May 27, 2010, remained in this position for 13 years.
