Prof. Dr. Ali Resul Usul

Prof. Dr. Ali Resul Usul graduated from Boğaziçi University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and International Relations in 1994. He then completed his master's degree in Political Science at Bilkent University. He completed his PhD at both Bilkent University and the University of Essex.  He worked as a faculty member at Beykent, Bahçeşehir and Istanbul Commerce Universities. He also served as the President of the Center for Strategic Studies (SAM) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey. After serving as the Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Istanbul Medipol University for five years, he was appointed as the Vice Rector of Anadolu University in November 2021. He has written various articles on Turkey-EU Relations, democratization, democracy and international politics, Middle East and North Africa, and Central Asian politics. Prof. Usul is the author of Democracy in Turkey: The Impact of EU Political Conditionality, published by Routledge in 2011.
