Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez

Prof. Dr. Mehmet Görmez completed his undergraduate education at Ankara University Faculty of Theology in 1987. In 1995, he received the best researcher award at Ankara University Faculty of Theology for his doctoral thesis. He conducted research and lectured in the field of Islamic studies in Kazakhstan, Egypt and the United Kingdom. Between 2001-2003, he was a member of the teaching staff of Hacettepe Faculty of Education.  After working as a faculty member there, Prof. Dr. Görmez was appointed as the Vice President of Religious Affairs in 2003, and in 2006 he received the title of professor and served as the Vice President of Religious Affairs until 2010. Prof. Dr. Görmez, who served as the President of Religious Affairs between 2010-2017, has published many books and articles in Turkish and other languages and presented papers at national and international conferences.
