Volume III Perceptions Sep - Nov 1998

This volume of the Perceptions starts with the statement by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 21 August 1998, concerning President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Rauf Denktaş’s proposal for a confederation in Cyprus. Secondly, Miomir Zuzul who is the Ambassador of the Republic of Crotia to the Unites States explores the ways to promote peace in conflict-affected regions like Bosnia and Herzegovina with the help of Crotia, Türkiye and the United States. Retired Ambassador Levent Bilma offers an insight into development of regional cooperation in Southeast Europe from the period between two world wars to post-Cold War period. Khairi Janbek who is the press adviser to Crown Prince of Jordon presents a Jordanian view in general.

In his article, Jesus A. Nunez Villaverde points out the dynamics shaping the relations between Ankara and Brussel from economic and interest based perspective. İdris Bal attempts to make an analysis of the Turkish Model and Turkish Republics and points out the concept of secularism, democracy, common culture, and economic transformation. Ambassador Hasan Ulusoy emphasized on Turkish foreign policy in the case of Nigeria fort he next millennium and give his projections regarding Turkisj-Nigerian relations. Furthermore, Enver Hasani presents the concept of “outer wall” of sanctions in the case of Kosovo and he demonstrates process of establishment, change and effects of “outer wall” in general. Lastly, Çınar Özen explains the change in dynamics of Türkiye-EU relations from the perspective of neo-functionalism.
