In this issue, Telmo Vieira explores how the EU perceives and constructs regions, specifically the Mediterranean and the Gulf and focuses on the EU's relationship with these regions with a growing emphasis on security concerns. By applying theories used to understand Islamist militancy, Abdul Mannan explores the differences between global jihadism and militant Islamism in Bangladesh. Zuhal Yeşilyurt Gündüz examines the securitization of HIV/AIDS. Hüsamettin İnaç and Ümit Güner discuss how the EU's structure and institutions have been scrutinized recently, especially regarding their alignment with democratic principles. Ultimately, it aims to identify areas where the EU falls short in meeting its goals. Lastly, factors like human rights activism, poverty, and immigration are reshaping global dynamics, while issues such as corruption contribute to terrorism and religious conflicts.
