Prof. Dr. Mehmet Özkan

Dr. Özkan is a Professor of International Relations at the Joint Warfare Institute, National Defense University. After completing his undergraduate studies at the Department of International Relations, Faculty of Political Sciences, Istanbul University, he completed his master's degree in African and European politics at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) and Linkopings University (Sweden) and his PhD in International Relations at the University of Seville, Spain. Dr. Özkan has conducted research at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (Colombia); Institute for Defense and Security Analysis (IDSA), New Delhi, India; Center for Global Policy (Washington DC, USA) and Cairo University (Egypt). He has also worked as a Foreign Policy Fellow at SETA Foundation and Director of the International Terrorism and Transnational Crime Research Center (UTSAM) at the Police Academy. Prior to joining MSU, Dr. Özkan was a faculty member at the International University of Sarajevo in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana University in Bogotá, Colombia, and the Police Academy in Ankara, where he lectured in Turkish, English and Spanish.
