New issue of Perceptions is out

January 3, 2025

In this issue, Perceptions examines global and regional connectivity projects from geopolitical, economic, and strategic perspectives, analyzing the dynamics of modern international relations. Particular attention is given to the impact of initiatives in energy, transportation, and trade, shedding light on mechanisms of multilateral cooperation.

Through examples such as China’s Belt and Road Initiative, the Zangezur Corridor, the Middle Corridor, and Africa’s aid strategies, this issue highlights that these projects are not merely technical or commercial endeavors but also tools of competition among major powers. The opportunities and challenges of regional cooperation are discussed from a broad perspective.

Focusing on how connectivity shapes global power dynamics, the issue explores the micro- and macro-level impacts of strategic projects, the power shift between states and private actors, and the evolving nature of multilateralism.

The commentary section addresses the Development Road Project (DRP) as a significant cooperation initiative, highlighting its potential to establish a strategic partnership between Ankara and Baghdad despite the strained relations of the past two decades.
